Starting a fact find session

Once you've created a fact find, it's time to send it to a client to fill out!

On a Client Record

Things to be aware of when sending a fact find session :

Fact finds can be sent to clients using either the URL or fact find template link via email

  • Clients will get an email with a link to the fact find

  • Upon selecting the link, clients will need to go through verification

    • The client must start the verification process within 5 minutes

    • Once verification is completed the client will enter the fact find session

  • A verified fact find session will last for 2 hours

    • Within this time the client can go back and forth to the fact find

    • After 2 hours the client will need to repeat the verification process by selecting the link on the original email

  • Clients with portal access can still access the fact find under Actions on the portal page


1. Go to the relevant client and select Add New

2. From the dropdown list that appears, select fact find session

3. Select the Client or Circle. The field will be autofilled with the client whose profile the fact find was created from, but this can be changed if required.

4. Select the fact find template desired.

5. Choose whether to send an email to the client to complete the fact find OR you can choose to generate unique URLs to send directly to clients through your own correspondence.

6. Add personalised text to the email sent to the client with the fact find request

8. Once all fields are completed, Send Request!


Via a fact find template URL

There is also the option to send a generic URL to prospect clients that can be used to fill in the fact find without a Plannr login or even an existing client record.

These can be found within the fact find templates area on the system - which can either be found in Settings for Owner/Admin level employees or can be found in Business > Useful Links for Member level employees.

If you then navigate to a specific fact find template you will find a URL at the top of the page; if this is then sent to clients they can complete that specific fact find template without even being a client of yours yet. These URLs can be especially helpful to onboard prospects before you begin the advice journey with them.

Please note: using the fact find template URL will result in a brand new prospect client being created on the system - you only want to use these URLs when needed, otherwise you can use the unique URLs at client level for existing clients on the system!

When generating a verification email via the template/public URL, the system will only send this out if the email is not used within Plannr - this is because these URLs are used specifically for non-existing clients.
